I’m kind of an insomniac now. It’s my new thing.  Here’s some thoughts I had while flipping back and forth between Megasnake and Eat, Pray, Love.

1. What the hell is the deal with Javier Bordem and Jeffery Dean Morgan?  Has the CIA investigated this AT ALL?

Seriously, how does this happen?

They aren't even from the same contintent, yo!

2. Anyone want to make me a flow chart for the characters in A Game of Thrones that doesn’t have any spoilers in it? I’ve just started and I’m loving it, but I’m getting a bit confused as to who’s who.

3. I do realize I’m one of those crazy people that despises spoilers so much, it’s kind of weird. I’m working on a post about it.

4. Some comments on Geeks In Naples have made me wonder, what’s happening with the Batman franchise right now?  I know I could Google it, but it would be so much cooler if you guys would just tell me.

5. I stand by The Killing Finale.  I wasn’t super impressed with the show as a whole, but the finale actually rocked my world a little bit.

Although, I guess I can see why some folks are upset...

6. I don’t know how many of you are keeping up with Dr. Who on BBC America, but this season is my favorite in many seasons.  I loved  me some David Tennant like you wouldn’t believe, but they are doing such impressive things with ALL the characters, including not only “the companion” but even “the companion’s husband” that it’s just boggling my mind.  I wasn’t totally thrilled with the first Smith season, but the second is freakin’ awesome.

7. It’s weird how  many people are awake at 3AM just because they are, not because they’re recovering from jet lag. (I’m looking at you, Geri, Scotty and Mark)

8. There are some things I want right now.  I want Supernatural’s 7th season to come back strong.  I want Nicolas Cage to stop making movies until he remembers that he’s actually a decent actor.  (Dude, show some self-respect.  You were H.I. McDonnough, for Pete’s sake).  I want a normal sleep schedule.  Oh, and I still kind of want to make out with Chris Hemsworth.  But, I know he’s married, so I guess I’ll try to get over that.  Because, you know, surely that is the only thing stopping THAT from happening.

9. Generally, I’d have to say there are better ways of dealing with a MegaSnake than the ones demonstrated in this movie.  For one, you need an 80s pop sensation a la Debbie Gibson or Tiffani.  Come on, SyFy channel.  You KNOW this.

10.  I should be spending a lot more time on MegaSnake than Eat, Pray, Love.

That’s it for tonight.  I think I might be able to sleep now. Huzzah!

Cheers.

The JDM/JB thing is totally creepy. I have thought so for a while. Maybe it’s a shifter ;) And yes, I am STILL awake. *sigh* Being unemployed can really screw with your sleeping habits.

By the way, people who despise spoilers are not crazy. I am one of them. I don’t even like to see commercials for films I want to see because they sometimes ruin things for me.

Since I’m on some kind of a Supernatural kick (I swear that’s not all I think about), and I agree with you on wanting the series to finish out strong. Season 6 started slow, but didn’t end badly.

Megasnake sounds intriguing.Maybe megasnake ate Nic Cage’s ability to do decent films. Just a thought.

Heart – Yes! Me too (about movie trailers). I also almost never read book jackets. I generally wait for someone to recommend a book or stick to authors I know I like. Part of the joy is the reveal, you know? Often, they reveal too much.

You can never talk about SN too much for Bex or I. One of my favorite things about summer vacation (I’m a teacher) is that now I’ll have time for the TNT reruns.

p.s. I just realize that half of that last post was un-intelligible and my comments were going nowhere. Maybe it’s time for bed.

  3. Mark says:

I’m awake because I work nights. (I use the word “work” in the loosest way, I’m babysitting the homeless guy and answering phones)

Batman Continuity for the last year or so, the short version.

    1) Batman apparently dies, struck by Darkseid’s Omega Beams. Everyone but Robin (Tim Drake) believes him dead.

    2) Dick Grayson becomes Batman, with Damien (Bruce Wayne’s son with Talia Al’Ghul) becoming Robin. Tim Drake adopts the name “Red Robin” and goes looking for Bruce.

    3) Bruce, not dead but instead lost in time, begins trying to find his way home, his actions creating the Legend of a Bat-Man that roams near Gotham.

4)Bruce Wayne, upon returning to his own time, decides to take his “The World Needs Batman” philosophy seriously, forms Batman, Inc. Says, “I’m not Batman, but I’ve been funding him for years, now I’m going to fund more. But I’m not Batman, no, really, I’m not. Look, there’s Batman over there.”

    5) Flashpoint. Alternate Universe is created (most likely by Professor Zoom) in which, instead of Bruce’s parents dying, leading him to become Batman, Thomas Wayne’s wife and son Bruce are killed, leading HIM to become Batman.

That brings us current. More or less. Skipping some really great, but non-continuity changing stories. (for example, one of Batman’s oldest foes realizing that Batman isn’t the same guy anymore, deciding to help Grayson-Bats.)

And Tiffany is going to be in Swamp Shark I think. We need live blogging for Swamp Shark’s SyFy debut!

  5. Mark says:

Oh Bex, you missed quite a bit. Dick left to be Nightwing (early 90s). Bruce ran alone for a while till he found the batmobile up on blocks and a kid stealing his tires. So of course this kid, Jason Todd became the new Robin. The fan backlash was so intense that when DC asked fans if he should live or die, voting (via 1-900 number) was almost entirely yes. The joker beat him to death with a crowbar THEN blew him up. Of course years later Jason Todd returned, because God forbid a comic character STAYS dead.

That story is almost entirely told in the Batman:Under the Red Hood movie (which the last time I checked was on Netflix instant), well worth a watch, especially with NPH voicing Dick/Nightwing

    • Mark says:

Oh, Tim. Tim figured out that Bruce was Batman, through quite a bit of detective work on his part. Bruce originally didn’t want another Robin but eventually changed his mind. Tim has been Robin for close to 10 years now…until last year when the timeline I gave up above happened.

You are not alone on the spoilers thing. For somethings I don’t care, but for a lot of things I will intentional stay away from trailers, productions shots and the like just to stay away from spoilers.

  7. Bex says:

I love a good spoiler. Sometimes I like to know what is coming so I can be prepared for it (like if a great character dies I want time to prepare for that and not be blindsided *ahem talking to you Joss Whedon!* )

  8. kna-scott says:

are you mocking my sleep schedule? that hurts. i have the joy of setting my own work hours and my commute to work is about as far as it is from my bed to my computer. night time is the best time to do work and/or research for work for me. i’m almost always online when i’m working so there are less distractions at night because there are less people on. wait, i don’t need to explain myself! i’m just nocturnal i guess

  9. Alex W says:

In general, I myself DON’T care about spoilers. My feeling is I only want to watch or read good stuff, and reread and rewatch it, so spoilers don’t matter. I do realize not everyone feels that way.

  10. Dieter says:

I hate spoilers so much I won’t even give them to other people if they ask for them.

    http://www.westeros.org/GoT/Characters/

This has every character from the TV show…even a bunch of the ones that never had names. Didn;t look at it too in depth, so I’m not sure if it’s spoileriffic or not.

    • Proffitt says:

Hm, I don’t know that’s it’s spoilerific, but it does run the danger of putting actors faces in my head instead of what I’ve been imagining. Now that I’m further in, I can keep them straight. Cheers, though!

  11. Hillary Kline says:

Loved, loved, LOVED “A Game of Thrones” and I hope you do, too, Rachel! In fact, that series may be my fave ever. Lemme know what you think!

    • Proffitt says:

Hillary! Great to see you here. I am about half way through now and still loving it. I also have finally managed to get all the characters straight. Can’t wait to see where it’s all heading. I thought there were only three in the series, but a friend just informed me there are four and the fifth is due out this summer. Unfortunately, this means I will have to avoid spoilers….forever. :)
