After this post you will surely think “That Bex, she sure is one couch potato.” But I assure you the paleness is due to the SPF and not from being a shut in. No need to worry.
Like Proffitt, I too will stop further channel surfing when I come across Jaws, Shawn of the Dead or Firefly. But there are others, I’ll even throw in embarrassing treat. There is so much news stuff out there to watch and read, but my “classics” just pull me in. I think it is in part because of the communal feeling- knowing others are watching at the same time you are. And now, wonders of the # and Twitter, you can socialize with those same folks and make an event out of it with absolute strangers. A lot of my must re-watches have fight scenes and for me that’s no different than watching a ballet. The choreography and everything in its right place at the right time all the while looking effortless and spontaneous. It can be enough to overlook the bad acting (looking at you my dearest girl crush of all time- Milla J).
The Boondock Hotties
Proffitt’s got her thing for geek boys and super heroes- for me the hotness apex is the MacManus brothers Connor and Murphy (Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus) of The Boondock Saints. Gotta say, whatever the heck speech impediment Reedus has, it works for him. And me.
Rough and tumble tattooed hotties. Men who smoke, drink, commit gratuitous violence and use their weaponry for good while cracking jokes and offending. I would argue the first one was an unintentional masterpiece and the second one is nowhere near as good but just as entertaining. I think II errs in it’s attempt to go directly for the laughs. Julie Benz is awesome in her Smecker role and would steal the movie if those two fellas were not as charming Every girl should be lucky enough to make an entrance like this once in her life. Resident Evil (the first, third and fourth installments). As mentioned, MILLA! And zombies. Quick bursts of action, gunplay, some edge of my seat intensity, Skinny Puppy tunes- it makes me happy on a late, late night curled up beneath a blanket.
But why were SMG's pants always so short? Where's the flood Buffy?
I’ll also stop anytime for Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Watching an episode of Buffy is like meeting an old friend for drinks. You’re guaranteed some inside jokes, some laughs, maybe a tear. I don’t hate the movie and do think it’s underrated, but it can’t compare to Buffy and her Scoobies.

Now…ta da…the embarrassing admittance. I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE, and do a happy dance inside every time I come across it, Bring it On. There is only one Bring it On. Never mind the “sequels.” The sequels do not exist in my world. I’m talking about the Eliza Dushku, Kirsten Dunst, Clare Cramer and the original spirit fingers. This is the ultimate I need some cheering up (no pun intended) movie for me. It’s snarky and fills me with warm fuzzies because it looks like the cast had as much fun making it as I have watching it.
There you have it. This isn’t them all. More surprises will come. And of course if it’s got shark in the title, you know I’m watching it.

Ha. Ah…the Buffy movie. I don’t think I can say you need to see it in good conscience. But…it has its moments. Your friend really likes Peewee Herman and he’s in it. Maybe that can be your excuse to watch?

I feel the same way as Bex. My good friend and I, who don’t live , in the same city but get the same cable stations, often re-watch together while we chat on msn. I guess for us it’s a way to stay connected.
I re-watch allllll the damn time. Especially if one of my faves is on tv and I happen to notice it while channel surfing. Star Wars, The Goonies, Nightmare on Elm Street etc. are all on my re-watch list.
Embarrassing re-watches? Hmmm, I’m not too embarassed about most of the stuff I watch because I like what I like and if you don’t like it that’s your problem, but guess I would have to put most Adam Sandler movies in there. I don’t know many people who like him, but I find him so ridiculous that he makes me laugh. Plus Happy Gilmore has one of the most epic fight scenes of all time. I mean come on….Bob Barker rolling around on a golf course?
Oh – does License to Drive qualify as an embarrassing re-watch? I’m pretty sure it does. I’ll put Clueless on that list as well.
Clueless not embarrassing. License to Drive qualifies but it gets a Coreys’ pass!
I rewatch Blade a lot too that may be embarrassing for me too.

I actually am the other way around. I saw Buffy the movie in the theater, but I haven’t watched the show. As for guilty pleasures I would stop on… I really have no idea, we have been without cable for so long that the only stuff I watch is C-Span and on demand shows through netflix. One of the reasons I don’t have cable is practically anything will keep me in front of it if I don’t exercise extreme discipline.
Can’t say I’m really embarrassed by many of the movies I like to watch. The closest, I’d say is ‘Hard to Hold’. The acting is a bit painful…but, damn, the soundtrack is fantastic!
